Running Eagle Falls-Two Medicine Creek, Glacier National Park, MT

I took the opportunity of recovering from a case of Bronchitis and a rainy day to go back process some older images I shot last year. This image from Running Eagle Falls on Two Medicine Creek in Glacier National Park caught my eye. I have been brushing up on some digital exposure blending techniques in Photoshop and this one provided a good specimen to try […]

High Peaks Sunset

As I wrapped up my evening skate-ski at Mt. Van Hoevenburg, I could see that things were setting up for a nice sunset. I was able to time things just right so that I arrived at the road to Adirondack Loj in time for the best colors of the sunset over the high peaks.

Lac de Louvie-Haute Route, Switzerland

Making our way from Cabane Mont Fort on the Haute Route, a 100+ mile hike through the Swiss Alps, I turned back to find this magificent view.

Tuscany, Italy 2014

I have been slacking on blogging lately and this post is long overdue. If you read my previous post about the start of our Tuscan holiday you know it did not get off to a good start. While it was not one of my favorite trips, looking at the pictures now I can hardly complain. It just wasn’t quite the active trip that I enjoy. […]

Manarola, Cinque Terre, Italy

We ran into a bit of confusion getting this shot. We were hungry for dinner and the sun was setting. I didn’t know if it would get better from here, but if we waited too long the restaurants would fill up. I took this shot and then headed for some chow. While the Cinque Terre is beautiful and picturesque, it is also a very crowded […]

A Pop of Color

For todays’ Photography101 assignment theme, I am going break my plan to take all of my images in Lock Ridge Furnace Park today. It is a dark, rainy and cold day which is not leaving me too much motivation or time to get out today. I am sticking to my plan of taking all images with my iPhone 5s, but instead I am using an […]

Mirror Lake-Half Dome Face

When we got off the Yosemite Shuttle bus we were rather disappointed that the “hike” to Mirror Lake was paved. Fortunately, we found a horse trail off to the left that wound through some boulder fields and dropped us off right in the middle of Mirror Lake. We chilled out on the shoreline for an hour or so taking in the view. I had the […]

Vernal Falls-Yosemite National Park 2014

‘ ‘ My wife and I hiked up to Vernal Falls on our way to Nevada Falls. It was a nice morning and not too many people on the path as we made our way. I spotted this little fan out of cascade as we made our way up the valley. I liked the spread of this pool with Vernal Falls in the background with […]

Through the Looking Glass – Looking Glass Falls – Pisgah National Forest, NC

It’s amazing what you will find digging through your old photos. This 3-image bracket was lurking in the depths of my Lightroom without even a flag marker. I blended the images together in HDR Effects Pro2 and converted to B&W. I also did a color version, but it doesn’t have the dramatic effect that the B&W does. This image was taken at the fairly […]
